Our Communities

Community engagement is integral to our business strategy. Community engagement is integral to our business strategy.

Our People

We are committed to being a good neighbor and helping build a safe, sustainable world by providing quality products in a responsible manner. We pride ourselves on being active in the communities where our employees live and work, and where we operate facilities. This includes efforts to safeguard the health, safety and environmental well-being of their neighborhoods and to support the schools, charities, and nonprofit organizations around them.

Employees nationwide devote time and resources to a variety of causes and have helped to improve their communities in many different ways, including feeding the hungry, donating toys and clothing for underprivileged children, raising awareness about life-threatening illnesses, participating in charity walks and other events, and educating students in local schools about the materials industry and associated careers.

Our Companies

We take our role as a good neighbor very seriously, and our companies are actively involved in their local communities. How we give back takes a hometown and decentralized approach, with a focus on where we operate facilities and are headquartered in local communities nationwide. Our local operating companies support specific outreach in their communities and we concentrate our efforts on national partnerships relevant to the construction and building materials industries.

Many of our local companies show their support for local nonprofits in very visible ways, theming concrete-mixer trucks that serve as moving billboards for the causes. In addition to spreading their message and raising awareness as they travel to and from work sites, these trucks often are popular attractions at fundraisers and special events.

Our Industry

Community also means the industry of which we are a part of, and our companies and employees are leaders in trade associations and active proponents of the industry through communication with and education of legislators at the local, state, and national levels.

We are committed to excellence and achieving superior results for our stakeholders through continuously striving to serve four key groups:

We are committed to being a great place to work and to attracting and retaining exceptional employees. In every city or town where our businesses operate, we have dedicated professionals who are focused on their own safety and the safety of their co-workers and who are passionate about their work.

We deliver quality, service, and value for our customers. This focus on our customers has made our companies the materials providers of choice for decades. Our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement means that we bring new and better-performing products to market and expand our national footprint to serve more communities.

To achieve strong financial performance and growth, we exercise a careful strategy for acquisitions and market expansion, constantly striving to increase efficiency and retain the entrepreneurial expertise that exists across our companies. This approach has helped us to weather economic downturns and remain a sound investment with a bright future.

We are committed to being a good neighbor. When we see a need that we can help within the communities we operate, we lend a hand. Some of these efforts include Habitat for Humanity builds and establishing wildlife habitats on our lands. We also take an active role in educating young people about our industry and the career opportunities it offers.
